Harmony Semester Music Program

Schedule

Our Homeschool Harmony Semester runs from October through December, providing nine weeks and a total of 27 hours of hands-on music instruction. This immersive program gives students the opportunity to build solid musical skills, enjoy collaborative group activities, and prepare for a mid-program showcase to demonstrate their progress.


Class Schedule:


  • Mon–Fri, 9 AM–12 PM, 1 PM–4 PM
     
  • MWF Morning Session: Ages 5–10
     
  • MWF Afternoon Session: Ages 11–15
     
  • Tue/Th Morning Session: Ages 11–15
     
  • Tue/Th Afternoon Session: Ages 5–10

Engaging Musical Paths

The program integrates six engaging courses that together form a comprehensive music curriculum:

  • Choir Collective: Ensemble singing, vocal technique, and group performance.
     
  • Ukulele Lab: Fundamental chords, strumming, and song accompaniment.
     
  • Recorder Adventures: Melody building, breath control, and literacy through notation.
     
  • Rhythmic Exploration: Percussion skills, steady beat, rhythm reading, and improvisation.
     
  • Piano 101: Foundational keyboard technique, note reading, and harmony.
     
  • Music Theory & Appreciation: Introduction to notation, musical form, and cultural connections through musical stories and history.


Aligned with the Florida Standards for Music Education, the Harmony Program ensures students grow in every area of musical development:

  • Performance Skills: Singing, playing instruments, and demonstrating correct posture, tone, and ensemble balance.
     
  • Music Literacy: Reading rhythmic and melodic notation, interpreting expressive markings, and applying theoretical knowledge in practice.
     
  • Creativity & Improvisation: Composing short melodies, experimenting with rhythm, and creating musical accompaniments.
     
  • Listening & Responding: Identifying tempo, dynamics, style, and tone color through listening exercises and discussion.
     
  • Cultural & Historical Context: Exploring music from a variety of cultures and time periods to build awareness of music’s broader role in society.
     
  • Collaboration & Presentation: Working as an ensemble, preparing repertoire for group performance, and gaining stage presence through a student showcase.

Total Semester Only $550

The full nine‑week Homeschooler Harmony Semester Program is just $550 for 27 hours of expert‑led music instruction across all six topics/labs. Plus, you can apply your Step Up For Students scholarship toward the tuition, making it even more affordable for homeschool families to unlock a world of musical learning and fun.

Melody Maestros (Ages 5-10)

Schedule

Designed especially for young beginners ages 5–10, Melody Maestros introduces children to the joy of music in a playful and engaging way. Through hands-on activities, games, and guided practice, students will explore rhythm, melody, and harmony while learning how to play together as a group. Each class emphasizes creativity, teamwork, and self-expression, helping children gain confidence as they begin their musical journey. Whether they’re singing, clapping, or playing instruments including piano, ukulele, recorder, drums, or guitar, our young maestros will discover that music is not only fun to learn, but also a powerful way to connect with others.


Classes take place once a week for 1 hour.

Program Details

Aligned with the Florida Standards for Music Education, this course develops skills across multiple domains of musicianship:


  • Singing and Playing Instruments: Students will perform simple songs using age-appropriate instruments, developing pitch-matching, steady beat, and ensemble awareness.
  • Reading and Writing Music: Children are introduced to basic music notation, including rhythmic values (quarter notes, eighth notes, rests) and melodic notation on the staff.
  • Listening and Responding: Through active listening activities, students will identify tempo, dynamics, and tone color while learning to respond appropriately to different musical styles.
  • Creating and Improvising: Students will experiment with composing short rhythmic or melodic patterns and improvising simple accompaniments to foster creativity.
  • Collaboration and Performance: Group activities encourage cooperation, shared responsibility, and ensemble performance, giving students opportunities to present music for peers and families.

By participating in this program, students will have built a solid foundation in rhythm, pitch, notation, and performance skills. Most importantly, they will gain a lifelong appreciation for music and the confidence to continue growing as young musicians.

Emerging Artists (Ages 11-16)

Schedule

Emerging Artists is a dynamic music program crafted for students ages 11-16 of any experience level who are ready to grow their musical abilities. This class provides a supportive yet challenging environment where students can deepen their understanding of rhythm, technique, and ensemble performance. Participants will work together to play songs, develop stage presence, and explore different styles of music, all while learning the importance of collaboration and artistic expression. As they progress, students will grow not only as musicians but also as confident young artists who are prepared to shine both in and out of the classroom.


Classes take place once a week for 1 hour.

Program Details

Aligned with the Florida Standards for Music Education, this program emphasizes higher-level musicianship and artistic growth through:


  • Performance and Technique: Students refine their ability to play instruments with proper posture, tone, and technique while learning repertoire suited for their level.
  • Music Literacy: Instruction includes reading more advanced rhythmic and melodic notation, understanding key signatures and time signatures, and interpreting expressive markings.
  • Ensemble Skills: Learners strengthen their ability to perform cohesively as part of a group, focusing on balance, blend, and following a conductor or peer leader.
  • Creative Expression: Students compose short pieces, arrange familiar songs for small groups, and explore improvisation to expand creativity and personal artistry.
  • Listening and Analysis: Through active listening and discussion, students identify musical forms, styles, and connect music theory to real-world examples.

Presentation and Stage Presence: The program includes opportunities to perform in front of peers and families, teaching professionalism, confidence, and effective communication through music.
